Google is consistently updating its search engine which always messes with the search results.

Google Updates

This is just a screenshot of the major ones they announce. Google’s algorithm is updated almost daily, so there are always some changes in the search results.

New pages get uploaded daily and modified and Google has to decide what to do with those pages and where they should rank them.

Many resources go into trying to interpret the google algorithm and getting your page to rank so you can share your content.

Google also has a slight conflict of interest. They sell advertising! If everyone’s search were always at the top of the search result, businesses would not need to invest in Google search ads. This leads to one of the biggest problems on the internet that will only get bigger as time goes on. I believe at some point we will see an antitrust lawsuit brought against Google to ask them to break up the divisions into non-competing companies or we will see a search engine that will take over Google’s spot at the top search engine.

This is one definition of how google ranks websites:

There is no definitive answer to this question, as it can vary depending on a number of factors. However, some of the key things that Google looks at when ranking websites include the quality and relevance of the content, the number and quality of backlinks to the site, and how well the website is optimized for search engines. In addition, Google also takes into account the user’s search history and location when determining which websites to show in the search results.

Another important factor that affects your website’s ranking on Google is the quality of the content. This means that your website should have well-written and informative articles, with keyword-rich titles and descriptions. In addition, your website’s content should be regularly updated to ensure that it remains relevant to users’ needs.

Finally, your website’s ranking on Google will also be affected by how well it is optimized for search engines. This means that your website should be designed in a way that makes it easy for users to find the information they are looking for. In addition, your website’s title and description should include relevant keywords that will help users to find your site when they perform a search on Google.

The Product Reviews Update

Google’s latest update was called the product reviews update. This was directed at affiliate marketers and how they were performing their product reviews or not.

Google wants to only promote legitimate and original product reviews.

This means that in my opinion that they want you to have some experience with the product before you make a recommendation on it.

This can mean original pictures of you using and holding the product or videos of a testing process.

Google no longer is going to be satisfied with some generic content and pics pulled directly from the company website.

This is going to make it much harder to rank for reviews without having some credibility or actually buying and using the product.

In general, I believe that this will provide a better user experience for the searcher. I know for example, if I am doing research, I want to know that the writer tested it and what their honest opinion was on it. I don’t want them to just recommend something because they are getting a commission on an affiliate sale.

If your site got hit by the product review update you need to look at the following things.

  • Are your pictures original?
  • Are your videos original?
  • can you prove that you actually tested the product?
  • Are you providing EAT credentials for your authors?
  • What type of supporting content do you have for your recommendations?

Where is this going?

The biggest trend I believe going forward is Google’s NLP system. At some point, Google will be able to read all the text on a page and make a recommendation based on what they read and what they know about the searcher.

What is NLP?

Natural language processing (NLP) is a field of computer science and linguistics concerned with the interactions between computers and human languages, and with the development and application of the software that can understand natural language.

NLP can be used to process and analyze text, extract information from unstructured data, and perform various other tasks such as automatic summarization, machine translation, named entity recognition, part-of-speech tagging, sentiment analysis, and speech recognition.

There are many different approaches to NLP, but all of them involve some form of processing and understanding of natural language data. In general, NLP algorithms are designed to automatically perform a specific task, such as classifying text documents or translating one language into another.

NLP is a relatively new field, and there is still much research to be done in order to develop more effective algorithms and techniques. Nevertheless, NLP has already proven to be very useful in a variety of applications, such as information retrieval, machine translation, and question answering.

What the future holds

I believe that Google’s AI will only continue to get better. Google needs its results to be exactly what the searcher is looking for so they do not go somewhere else to get that information.
